Business Objectives
To establish my own business as a grower of speciality annuals
and vegetables in the Central Ohio area.
Educational Background
Bachelor of Science, Iowa State University, 1970.
Master of Business Administration, Pepperdine University, 1977.
Contributed to the development of the OSU
Master Gardener web site.
Participated in several conferences and workshops on specialty crops
production and direct marketing.
Experience
Specialty Vegetable Grower
Sold heirloom tomatoes, cucumbers, summer
squash and peppers plus a value-added product (fresh salsa) at the Homegrown
and Homemade in Hilliard Farmers Market during the summer of 1998.
Sold out of production on each market day (Saturday) and grossed $500 for
the season.
Franklin County Master Gardener
Completed the Franklin County Master
Gardener training program in 1995 and worked in certified status since
that time. Programs I participate in include: Cluster Project (leader)
-- Central Ohio Vegetable Variety Trials; Home Gardener Series -- Gardening
101 and Backyard Vegetable Gardening; Gardening InfoLine; OSU Short Course
for the Ohio Nursery and Landscape Association; Chadwick Arboretum Annual
Plant Sale; Franklin County Master Gardeners Advisory Committee; and International
Master Gardeners Committee.
In addition, each year I complete my
recertification educational requirements by completing the following courses:
Perennial Plant Association P.L.A.N.T. Seminar, OSU/ONLA Short Course and
Ohio State Master Garderner State Conference plus other specialized courses
and seminars offered by OSU.
Interests - personal
Gardening, cooking, reading,
folk art, travel.
